    What is a viral hepatitis?

    Viral hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver caused by a virus. There exist at least five types of viral hepatitis that are well known.

    • Hepatitis A
    • Hepatitis B (or HBV)
    • Hepatitis C (or HCV or Hep C)
    • Hepatitis D
    • Hepatitis E

    Their symptoms resemble one another, however, their mode of transmission and their evolution within the human organism vary considerably.
