Laboratory Services-Clinic l'Actuel

The clinic is equipped with a fully-licensed laboratory in microbiology - accredited by the LSPQ or Quebec Public Health Laboratory. A great number of our laboratory evaluations are performed on site, including the evaluation of vaginal secretions (the investigation of vaginal infections/ urethral infections), on-site cultures for the evaluation of gonorrhoea, urinary analysis, sedimentation rates and pregnancy tests. The laboratory also ensures the rapid and appropriate preparation of your samples requiring transportation to public laboratories where additional or confirmatory testing may be required.

Please be informed that all necessary tests will be complete before your departure from L'Actuel. Your laboratory specimens will be drawn/taken by your physician and/or our laboratory technician and will thus save you the hassle of a second appointment at a hospital test center. In order that we may continue to offer this “one-stop service,” a charge of $5.00 to $15.00 for the transport and manipulation of your specimens is billed prior to your departure from the clinic.

CDL Laboratories

In concert with CDL Laboratories, we are able to offer STI testing with rapid results (most results are available within 24-48 hours). Rapid diagnostic testing is not insured by the RAMQ or public health-care system. The majority of private insurance companies will defray the costs of private diagnostic testing. If you have additional questions regarding rapid testing - speak with one of our well-informed staff. Please be advised - HIV test results always require an on-site medical appointment, (although rapid:24-48 hours post-test).
